Daan is a senior consultant in the Amsterdam office focusing on innovative legal services delivery concepts and the impact of legal tech on law firm business models. Since he completed his studies in business economics at the University of Amsterdam, cum laude, Daan has developed several new business models for law firms.
Daan operates an advisory practice, with a focus on advisory, coaching and analysis of complex, high impact, bet-the-firm, strategic projects. The combination of his fifteen years of experience in the field of strategic reviews, coaching start-ups, co-founding two companies and analyzing several business models of law firms resulted in the recent publication of his (second) book “Think Like an Investor”. In the book, Daan invites corporates, founders and scale-ups to take an outside-in approach when evaluating the credibility and validity of the underlying business case.
Since the beginning of 2007, Daan’s entrepreneurial expertise has been of added value in more than a 100 law firm related projects. Daan has developed a sound knowledge of strategy development, in-depth understanding of profit management and strategy execution in Europe-based (international) law firms. His recent projects involve advisory services and research for an international alliance of law firms developing their new strategy; research for Dutch, Italian and UK law firms to develop effective international referral strategies and several performance and profit analyses in the context of mergers and a market positioning project on behalf of two Dutch boutique firms in the real estate area.
Daan keeps his entrepreneurial skills up to date in his ‘Innovation Lab’ (“Kop van Munt”). He is a certified business coach, specialized in determining and evaluating the feasibility of innovative business ideas and (ambitious) first year growth plans.
